Welcome to the Sir James Henderson British School of Milan ETS
The Sir James Henderson British School of Milan (ETS – Ente Terzo Settore) is a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to providing outstanding British education in Italy.
In 2001, the ETS incorporated The British School of Milan Srl, of which it is the sole shareholder. While the ETS provides strategic oversight, the Srl operates as the commercial entity responsible for all teaching and learning activities within the School.
Governance of the ETS is entrusted to a Board of Governors that reflects best practice within British independent education. The Board brings together a blend of parent-elected, ex-officio and independent governors—each contributing their expertise to guide the School’s long-term strategic development. The Principal and CEO attends all Board and committee meetings as a guest, ensuring strong alignment between governance and the School’s operational leadership.
The School’s governance is strengthened by valuable links with British institutions, supported by the involvement of the British Consul General in Milan, the President of the British Chamber of Commerce for Italy, and respected leaders from the British school sector. Regular inspections by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) and oversight from bodies such as AGBIS, HMC and COBIS ensure compliance with the highest standards of British international education.
Together, these structures ensure that the Sir James Henderson British School of Milan remains a forward-thinking, well-governed and mission-driven institution committed to excellence.
